Gravity 1101: A Beginner’s Guide
Gravity–The Force That Shapes Our Universe Just take a moment to think about what gravity is. We all know the boring Newton's apple story, but have we ever thought for ourselves what gravity is? History of Gravity In 1687, Sir Isaac Newton made the groundbreaking discovery of gravity. While relaxing beneath an apple tree, he observed an apple falling to the ground. This led him to ponder why the apple descended rather than moving upward or sideways. Clearly, there was an unseen force influencing its motion. Newton identified this force as gravity, which he later formulated into what is known as Newton's Law of the Universe. Later in the early 20th century, Albert Einstein developed a completely new concept of gravity, stating that it resulted from the warping of space and time. What is Gravity?
